We cordially invite all collaborators to the Student Audit and Research in Surgery (STARSurg) 5th National Meeting at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

STARSurgUK (2013) and DiSCOVER (2014) were both published in the British Journal of Surgery, the premier surgical journal of Europe listing all collaborators as pubmed-citable authors. With the OAKS project successfully completed and being written for publication, we invite you to the launch of the second part of our OAKS study.

Confirmed speakers include:
– Mr Lavelle-Jones: President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh
– Dr Fiona Duthie: Nephrologist and Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh.
– Ms Susan Moug: Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Glasgow.
– Professor Derek Alderson: Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Surgery (BJS) and Emeritus Professor of Surgery at the University of Birmingham.

The October meeting will be split into two parts:

(i) A half day interactive STARSurg Research Skills Course with core and advanced arms tailored to your level of experience.  An impressive expert faculty is guaranteed! Certificates of completion will be provided to all delegates.

Don’t know which arm to choose? Try our research skills course selection tool.

(ii) A formal protocol-launch with an afternoon of plenaries from world-leading academic surgeons and peri-operative physicians.

We are asking for a small fee of £15 to secure your place at the meeting. This includes the course content, handouts lunch and refreshments. Afternoon-only tickets are available at a reduced rate of £10.00. Buy early to get early bird tickets!
